S/V Rembrandt van Rijn was built originally as a herring-lugger. The ship was rebuilt in the year 1994, and it has since been sailing in Spitsbergen as well as in Galapagos Islands. In 2011, the ship was completely rebuilt and refurbished. It can accommodate 33 passengers.
Even when sailing, the Rembrandt van Rijn offers a large open deck area for viewing wildlife. Two inflatable rubber craft (zodiacs), which are used to land and view wildlife in areas that would otherwise be inaccessible, allow for this.
This is an excellent option for those who want to experience a small and intimate expedition cruise. Small size and shallow draft of the ship allow for it to reach remote areas where larger ships can't. Two zodiacs allow passengers to experience wildlife up-close.
