Greenland Aurora Explorer

Greenland Aurora Explorer

Venture across Greenland’s extraordinary coastlines on this multifaceted expedition. Journey from the historic Cold War port of Kangerlussuaq through the wild fjords of the west, down to the Norse settlements of the southern fjords, and into the raw, remote landscapes of the east. Along the way, visit vibrant Nuuk, glide through iceberg-filled fjords, encounter local cultures, and uncover Greenland’s Norse, Inuit, and wartime past. This is a dynamic voyage that showcases the full scope of Greenland’s untamed beauty and enduring heritage.

Day by day

Day 1 : Kangerlussuaq, Embarkation

Your Arctic journey begins in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland’s inland air hub with a unique past. Originally built as a U.S. airbase during WWII, this small town carries remnants of its military legacy. After arriving, transfer to the harbor where your expedition ship awaits. A short Zodiac ride brings you aboard the Ocean Albatros. Following a safety drill, enjoy a welcome dinner and toast your upcoming adventure as the ship sails through the 160-kilometer fjord.

Day 2 : Kangaamiut and Evighedsfjorden

Arrive in the quaint fishing village of Kangaamiut, known for its colorful homes and traditional Greenlandic lifestyle. Take in sweeping views from a hillside heliport or explore local art and customs during cultural presentations. Later, cruise into the vast Evighedsfjorden—“The Eternity Fjord”—with towering mountains and a massive glacier at its head. Weather permitting, enjoy a Zodiac ride near the calving face of the Evigheds Glacier.
