Day by day

Day 1 : Longyearbyen

A representative will meet you at Longyearbyen and take you to your group's hotel. Please visit the hotel's hospitality desk upon arrival to receive luggage tags. You can also speak with the team at the ground operation office about pre-embarkation information, dining options or any last-minute purchases. You are free to spend the rest of your day at Funken Lodge or a comparable accommodation.

Day 2 : Embarkation Day

This morning, please ensure that your cabin baggage is fitted with cabin tags clearly labelled with your name and cabin number. Your luggage will be collected from your hotel and taken directly to the port for processing and delivery to your cabin prior to your arrival on board. Please keep any valuables or personal items with you throughout the day.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before joining your fellow expedition members for a guided tour of Longyearbyen. 

On the drive to Camp Barentz in the Advent Valley, your guide will give you an introduction to Longyearbyen's fascinating history. At Camp Barentz we enjoy a presentation in the large 'lavvo' - a traditional building common in northern Norway. You will also have a chance to meet the friendly huskies and perhaps buy some souvenirs. A visit to the Svalbard Museum is included back in town before boarding the ship in the late afternoon.

After the tour, you will be taken directly to the pier for embarkation in the late afternoon. Settle into your cabin before an important safety briefing and enjoy the thrill of departure as we 'throw the lines' and set sail. 

This evening, meet your fellow expedition members and our friendly expedition team and crew at the Welcome Dinner to celebrate the start of an exciting adventure.

Note: Sometimes our ship is unable to dock in Longyearbyen due to space and capacity constraints. In these cases we will reach the ship by Zodiac. Please ensure that you keep your wet weather gear in your hand luggage for use in the Zodiacs if this is the case. Please ensure that your cabin luggage tag.

Learn to capture wildlife and landscape shots in a small group photography program, including critiquing sessions and editing classes. Plus, Explorer Boat excursions with a dedicated photography expert on landings.

Explorer Boats
Achieve the best views and photographs from a forward facing Explorer Boats. They allow you to sit comfortably and securely while crackling through the ice-strewn waters. Look out for wildlife such as penguins, seals and whales as you cruise.
Yoga

It doesn’t get more serene than complimentary yoga classes to the tune of glacial scenery. Join the most unique exercise setting in the world after a day of exploration. Classes are regular but are dependent on weather conditions and swell.
