Ocean Albatros will be christened in Copenhagen
The Ocean Albatros, the second vessel featuring the innovative Ulstein X-Bow hull design, is scheduled for formal naming on May 7, 2024, at Nordre Tolbod in Copenhagen, Denmark, where the family-owned company originated. This ship, accommodating 169 passengers, has been in operation since May 2023.

Søren Rasmussen, the Founder and Chairman, has emphasized the company's dedication to creating unforgettable guest experiences since its establishment in 1986. He underscored the importance of their modern, environmentally conscious ships in providing distinctive Nordic-inspired expeditions, typically sailing between Antarctica and the Arctic. The upcoming christening ceremony in Copenhagen offers an opportunity to commemorate this achievement with loved ones.

Those attending the event will have the chance to explore the Ocean Albatros through guided tours, admiring its sleek design and cutting-edge technology. The ceremony will conclude with the traditional champagne christening, officially welcoming the ship into the fleet.

Additionally, more spaces have opened up for expeditions to Antarctica aboard the Ocean Albatros, following the availability of previously chartered sailings. General sales are now open for an 18-day voyage departing on January 4, 2025.

In other developments, Hans Lagerweij, who had served as CEO in a sporadic capacity since July 2023, has left the expedition company. Lagerweij has assumed the role of Interim CEO at Positive Polar, a new venture focusing on science-driven expedition cruises. Rasmussen has taken on CEO responsibilities until a permanent replacement is appointed.
